The journey, hour by hour
Departure from a Paris palace — the Ritz, the George V, the Plaza Athénée, the Cheval Blanc — is choreographed to the minute. Luggage is taken silently from the room while the chauffeur waits at the porte cochère. The A13 motorway carries us westward, through the Seine valley, past the Roches-Douvres tunnel and the silver curve of the river at Mantes-la-Jolie. Within ninety minutes the Norman air arrives — cooler, briny, less hurried than the Île-de-France.
Optional stop: Honfleur
Crossing the Pont de Normandie — the cable-stayed marvel that arches over the Seine estuary — is itself a pleasure. Many of our clients ask the chauffeur to descend at Honfleur for a one-hour stop: a coffee at the Vieux Bassin, a walk past the Sainte-Catherine church, a private detour to a contemporary gallery on rue de la Ville. Arrival at Deauville
